Over the weekend from June
15 through June 17, the first (in what will now have to become an annual event)
Cugini (Italian for "Cousins") weekend was held at Zach's house. All WITE LITE
members were in attendance (the first time since Aunt Millie's 90th birthday
party) and also included Bob McNamara, Bob Greene, John Greene, and Zach's boys
(John, Matt and Michael).
In the inaugural event,
Zach has clearly set the bar high. Friday began with golf, an Orioles baseball
game and an evening back at the house with with good spirits and cigars. Guest
appearances included Fred McMurray and the "Cardinal" making Saturday
morning a bit more difficult for a few of the attendees.

Saturday included Zach's
famous breakfast and dinner (his crab cakes and beans being standouts). The main
golf event of the weekend was a 12 man scramble which saw the team of Zach,
Mike, young John Manchisi and Tom Greene win with a 2 under par performance over
teams of Bill, Tim, Matt, and Bob Greene as well as the team of John, Bob
McNamara, Kevin and young Mike Manchisi. Highlights included Tim Doyle's
negative yardage shot and Kevin Finnegan's excitement over sinking a long putt
in his Best Buy attire.
An afternoon at the pool
and sand volleyball in Zach's beautiful yard followed and after dinner, the
group reminisced of old times, listened to early WITE LITE recordings and
watched Quadrophenia in the home theater at volumes that would have made the Who
proud.
Though most enjoyed the Who
performance, Kevin Finnegan's comments about Roger Daltrey combined with listing
Ozzy Osbourne as the greatest rock and roll vocalist of all time, made a future CUGINI invite questionable though he redeemed himself with an acapella duet of
Thunder Road in the early Sunday morning hours that also included versions of
American Pie, Thick as a Brick and New York, New York.
Plans are in early stages
for 2008 CUGINI at Bob Greene's place with the theme "There's no place like
Zach's...except Bobby's!"
First batch of pictures
below and
letters from attendees welcome. It was a great time that reinforced how
fortunate we are to have such a great family. Thanks Zach!
