Cugini - 2011
Marking the 5th Cugini anniversary with 20 strong (the largest Cugini turnout ever), and the highest winning score ever (even par) the team of Captain John Greene, Bob Greene, Matt Manchisi and rookie Dylan Morris won by two strokes and celebrated the "winners swim". Tim Doyle captured the longest negative drive competition on the 9th hole, with his negative 15 yard shot off the rocks beating the prior years negative drive record. Matt has now collected 4 wins in 5 Cugini sessions. John has now captained two winning teams and the remark that he saved room in his suitcase to take home the winner's glass has prompted a commission review of the teams for 2012.
Just when you think it can't get any better , Zach continues to raise the bar. Friday lasagna, Kobe dogs and burgers followed by Crabcakes and filet mignon on Saturday , sand volleyball, pool, and the acapella concert featuring American Pie, Thunder Road, Born to Run were highlights. Rookies T-Bone Greene, young James Manchisi, Dylan Morris and Richie Manchisi posted admirable showings though young T-Bone's rendition of America Pie seemed a good 10 seconds behind the rest of the group Friday and Richie Manchisi's delayed appearance at dinner Saturday is also under review by the commission.
Given that this was the 5th anniversary, the group collected their favorite Cugini moments which are published below though the initial meeting at Camden Yards took top honors. Thank you Zach, Margaret and God bless the Manchisi Cuginis. Once again, it was clear that Millie, Anna, Alice and Nina were all looking down and gracing us with great weather. 2012 promises to see new young entrants Billy Manchisi (though the 20 something group is also lobbying!) and hopefully an end to 4-Peat Matt Manchisi's string of victories.
